Diamonds come in several different colors, including white, blue, pink and yellow.  Diamonds have a MOHS hardness of 10 which is the hardest natural material in the world at 58 times harder than any other substance.  Fancy yellow diamonds are unbelievable.  The flash and light reflection is brilliant. They come in very light yellow the color of lemonade, to a darker cognac golden yellow. 

History

Diamonds were originally found in India in about 400 BC, when miners found them while panning for gold in streams and rivers.  Over the centuries they have become one of the most valuable gemstones.  After the diamonds in India became harder to find a new source was found in Brazil in the early 1700's.  Brazil maintained it's lead in the diamond market for at least 150 years.  In 1866, diamonds were discovered in Kimberly, South Africa and they have held the lead in diamond production ever since.  Diamonds are very rare and it's estimated that one carat of diamond is found for one million carats of host rock.
