Another factor you'll want to consider when choosing between white gold and platinum is the overall composition and weight of the metals.

One factor that is usually a big deciding factor between white gold and platinum is the cost.  Because platinum is a purer material, weighs more, and is more dense, it usually will be the more expensive option.  14K white gold is only 58.5% gold and 18K white gold is only 75% gold so it would be the less expensive option.

If price is not an issue, and you like the beneficial and durability aspects of platinum, then platinum is your best bet.  On the other hand, if you looking for something that is more light-weight, less expensive or budget-friendly the white gold is going to be the better option.
