A lot of older people reach a certain point in their life where they simply want to get rid of their old jewelry or heirlooms that they've collected and owned over the years.  In some cases they just want to sell them to get rid of them, in other cases, they want to sell them to get money for them.

What Is Entailed In A Jewelry Buyer Quote?

Most of these jewelry buyer quotes are very simple.  You usually won't need to call a jeweler to get a quote - most forms are done right online, but it's always a good idea to include a phone number in case they have questions for you.

Form:   The form will need to include your personal information such as name and your address.  But it will also include  information about the jewelry you want to get rid of.  Some questions you might be asked:

Age Of Item
Type Of Item
Type of Metal
If the jewelry is made by a famous maker
The shape of the diamond if any
The color, clarity, and quality of the diamond
A certificate number 
Total weight
General condition
Appraisal of item

The very last question you might be asked is what you expect from the piece, in terms of price.  Obviously, this isn't always fulfilled, for several reasons, but jewelers will at least try to give you what you SHOULD be paid for the piece.

Some pieces may be near and dear to your heart or you might have some emotional connection to them.  Unfortunately, when it comes to selling jewelry, jewelers cant pay you for emotional connections.  They can only pay you for what the piece is actually worth - so make sure you are realistic about the asking price and base it on the actual value of the jewelry.

You can also include images of your jewelry.

If you look at the rolling list above, one of the questions you'll be asked about is the certificate number or appraisal of an item.  If you never had the piece appraised - that's okay.  Most places are more than willing to evaluate your piece free of charge.

Once the jeweler looks over the piece and all of the information that you included on the form, including the images, they will contact you and let you know how much they are willing to give you for the pieces you selected.
